CSS Conference 2022: Simon Critchley confirmed keynote speaker and extended deadline for abstracts!

Published 25 January 2022

We are happy to announce that the renowned English philosopher Simon Critchley will be part of our line-up of keynote speakers at this summer's CSS conference on Nordic humour in the world! Also, extended deadline for abstract submissions because of the recent developments in the COVID-19 pandemic.

New keynote speaker confirmed

Simon Critchley, distinguished philosopher of many subjects, such as continental philosophy, literature, psychoanalysis, ethics, political theory and, not least – humour, will participate as a keynote speaker in Centre for Scandinavian Studies Copenhagen-Lund-Hankuk's (CSS) third biennial international conference in Scandinavian Studies.

Pandemic considerations and extended deadline

In light of the current state of affairs, with increased spread of infection rates of COVID-19 around the world and the renewed restrictions of travel and mass gatherings that this has brought, we have felt it our responsibility to let all who are interested in our conference know how we believe this affects our plans for the conference.

In short: we believe the situation will be much better in August and continue to plan for a conference on site in Lund and Copenhagen. But we have made preparations for individual last minute distance-participation if necessary, and will continue to reevaluate in accordance with pandemic developments and government recommendations and restrictions.

We have also decided to extend the deadline for abstract submission a month, as we realize that this last month has been very stressful for a lot of us and that plans for the summer has been far from our minds.
