About CSS
The Centre for Scandinavian Studies - Lund University (CSS) is an organization based on a close collaboration between
- Institut for Nordiske Studier og Sprogvidenskab (NorS) (Institute for Nordic Studies and Linguistics) at the University of Copenhagen,
- Språk- och litteraturcentrum (the Centre for Languages and Literature) at Lund University, and as of 2021 the
- Department of Scandinavian Languages and Literature at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) in Seoul, Korea.
Our overarching goal is to increase connections and collaborations between the international world of Scandinavian Studies and the Nordic world of national-oriented humanities.
To achieve this we arrange conferences, lecture series and other events to build research networks and international communities. We have created a news portal for the field – IWCSS – and we continually produce open access publications with contributions from scholars around the world. We are also involved in non-academic projects where expertise in the Nordic languages and culture may be of use to the society at large. CSS also helps to administer the Facebook group for the Scandinavian Studies community - Scandinavian Scholars.
